Tribute from Asempa Publishers, Christian Council of Ghana

Created by Elizabeth 3 years ago

Rev Prof Joshua N. Kudadjie had a long association with Asempa Publishers as a member of the Board of Directors and also as an author. As member of the Board, Prof served for a period spanning over a decade and was very punctual at meetings. He took a special interest in the work of Asempa staff. He would usually go from office to office getting acquainted with the work of individual staff members. When he came to you, you felt comfortable, because you knew he was not coming to police you but rather fraternize with you.

Though soft spoken, and would not put anybody under undue pressure, he made sure he got to the bottom of things and worked his way through till he found solutions to existing problems. His counsel always landed softly.

We remember something he shared with our immediate past General Manager, Mrs. Sarah Apronti, at the dedication of the new Asempa building at Haatso on 14th May 2009. Prof told her that he could see angels around when the ceremony was in progress. Mrs. Apronti had no reason to doubt what Prof said, because on the eve of that particular event, she had also in a dream seen a choir of angels ministering in songs at the same event with the refrain: God is faithful! God is faithful!! God is faithful!!!. Such was the man we are talking about and how deeply and intently he put himself in matters concerning Asempa Publishers.

Beyond his role as a member of the Asempa Board, Rev Prof Kudadjie had, at a point in time, served with Rev Prof John S. Pobee as Coordinators of the Theological Studies Series (LTSS) project. LTSS, as some of you might know, is an ecumenical initiative, which was established in Ghana in 1995, to promote and publish manuscripts on historical and contemporary religious thinking in Africa. The General Manager of Asempa Publishers plays the role of a Business Manager and Secretary to LTSS Board of Directors of the project. The project has so far published six (6) titles.

Asempa Publishers also published, in 1995, a book titled Moral Renewal in Ghana authored by Prof. Earlier in 1991 and 1992, Asempa Publishers had also published in two separate volumes The Christian and National Politics and The Christian and Social Conduct, authored jointly with R. K. Aboagye-Mensah, and which were later consolidated and published in 2004 as Christian Social Ethics.

Asempa is honored and privileged to have had Prof sharing part of his precious life in the service of our publishing house. We are eternally grateful to him for contributing his quota towards the realization of the objectives of our 50-year old publishing firm.

Even though you are gone, your contribution to Christian publishing in Ghana lives on.

May God grant you eternal and peaceful rest. Amen
