Tribute from Mrs. M.K Kumaka and Mrs. Lydia E.A Sackey-Addy

It felt like a bad dream when the news of the death of our dear father, mentor, teacher and friend appeared on our phones. How could it be? We called Mrs Kudadjie but we did not have the courage to ask for confirmation, so we just asked some questions and ended the call. We were with them on Sunday before that fateful Tuesday to visit a church member who had lost the husband. Although Papa did not look too well he was still thinking about others. Yes, that was his nature, always putting others first.

We became family when Very Rev Prof Kudadjie and his wife, Sister Miriam, joined the Amasaman Methodist Church in the Ga Mission. Since then, Papa Osofo Nukpa touched our lives and that of our families in very meaningful ways, by providing us with spiritual, physical, psychological and emotional support. He was our advisor, counsellor and prayed for us ceaselessly.

Papa Osofo Kudadjie had a great sense of humour and any time we went to visit them we sang some songs like: “anunyam yɛ ŋwei floflo,” “Ebenezer – lɛlɛn nyɔnmɔ dromo kɛkɛ ni,” “ahele mi” “ nyɛ teashie nyɔnmɔ bii” and others. Visits to them were always joyous and one always left in high spirits.

Osofo Nukpa Kudadjie, as we pay tribute to you and celebrate a life well lived in the Lord Jesus Christ, we say, thank you, trusting that God would minister to our hearts and give us strength as we continue in our walk with Him.

Very Rev Prof J.N Kudadjie, may God be praised for making you part of our families. Indeed we are truly blessed.

Papa Osofo, as you always said, God’s people don’t say “Goodbye” but “see you later.”

Mɔ hiɛ tsɔmɔ, ejeee mɔ shimɔ ni.

Wɔ ojogbaan yɛ nuntsɔ Yesu Christo mli, Amen.
