Tribute from Immanuel Kofi Agamah, Formerly of Bible Society of Ghana

Created by Elizabeth 3 years ago

Uncle Joshua, my walk with you and your family has been deeply personal and spiritual. It all begun at No. 5 Legon Hill where you lived with your family, and No.23 Legon Hill where I lived with my late auntie and lecturer, Nyamafo Chapman-Nyaho and also at the Legon Interdenominational Church then in Legon Hall of the University of Ghana. You were a tremendous source of support to us and her children then.

You introduced me to the Bible Society of Ghana, and I got employed on 9th May 1988 (the day set aside as UBS Day of Prayer) as one of the first 3 Bible Society Youth Officers in the Africa Region of the United Bible Societies (UBS). You followed keenly my progress in the Bible Society movement both in Ghana and outside of it.

You were always generous with your wise counsel. I felt like a privileged son as I entered your family in various ways and at different times. I learnt a lot about the Christian walk and values that sync with it from God’s word, the Bible and your personal life. My life became intricately woven with yours and that of Auntie Miriam your wife, and of your children John, Kaki, Theodosia and Comfort.

You were a huge blessing to many generations; a Dad literally to all, whose paths crossed with yours; you will be celebrated. In my heart is raised up, a timeless memorial as long as the Lord gives me breath. Your memory will never fade with the sunset. You have left an enormous legacy in my life and that of my family.

Rest in the Lord, Uncle Joshua.
