Tribute Bro. J.W.T Adjoteye Snr (A Friend)

Created by Elizabeth 3 years ago

When my son asked me to write a tribute to you, I felt sad because I told them about a year ago that when I die you were to be contacted for my tribute. Why? Because judging by the age difference I would go earlier. It took me about two weeks before I put pen to paper.

Oh my friend Joshua, we both joined the Adabraka Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) in the late 1950s. We did evangelism together to win souls for Christ. I remember when the Wilsons who were worshipping with us moved to Madina in the early 1960s, they appealed to the youth to come and evangelise Madina. We accepted the challenge; every Sunday, we hired a trotro with our own money to go to Madina to do evangelism, and you would follow on your scooter. After going through the town with God’s word, we would gather at the Wilson’s to preach the word.

There were not enough chairs, so some of us would sit on kitchen stools to listen to the word; we preached the Gospel in rotation. Not only that, we helped to evangelise Pokuase and its environs, Mayera and its environs, Kwabenya and its environs. It was therefore no surprise to me when I heard that you had gone into the ministry, because it was through our evangelism that the late Rt. Rev Emmanuel Ashitey joined the Church Ministry.

In February 2014, when I lost my wife, you were with me day and night, consoling me until we laid her to rest in April. The next morning, which was Sunday, you were at my Church to conduct the service. What a faithful friend.

Last November on my birthday I called you and we chatted, after which you prayed with me. Later on, you sent me a passage in Psalm and a note on wellness. I never heard of your illness, until your death was announced to me!

My brother in Christ, you served the Lord with all your strength and might. I know the Golden Crown awaits you. Fare thee well.

Moya wƆ ngε NyƆmtsε Ɔ hejƆmi mi.
Amen!
