Tribute from John David Kabu Tetteh Kudadjie

The phrase, “Indeed, a life well lived,” can be said of Very Rev Joshua N. Kudadjie, affectionately called Grandpa by his grandchildren and others. He was a man of amazing character: always encouraging during bad times, yet scolding when the need arose. Even though he was more inclined to the pastoral aspect, he was also a man of science. I would always remember the day he gifted me my first refracting telescope. That moment marked a stepping stone in my career and interests towards the future, and I will always be grateful for that day.

At Grandpa’s house, speaking English was like breaking a taboo. He always encouraged us to speak the local dialect. I remember vividly when, during the holidays, we used to stay over at Grandpa’s house. I honestly did not like it at first, because I had to do all the chores in the house, but then I began to realize that time with family was the best holiday I could ask for, aside from the everlasting list of chores.

I have always enjoyed being with Grandpa, but I am also glad he is getting his eternal rest. Knowing that he completed his work here on earth gives me hope that I shall also accomplish the task to which I was brought to this earth.

Farewell Grandpa, until we meet again.
